Grid work

In last weeks lesson we had to work in teams to construct text and imaging to create a cohesive layout using design. Although this isn’t breaking the gird it is constructed  with simple columns, gutters and margins for organization.

Could of done more?

What we did was quite basic and simple which leads the piece to not capture anybody’s imaginations or a innovative design using grids. I think we could of done more to challenge ourselves but we were too focused on including all the text and images. Also, the brief was to break the rules involved in grids to target a specific market – we didn’t break the grid and we didn’t really tailor the design to a student audience. The colour scheme I am quite happy with because the red had direct links with the images within the layout and also connotations of money and ‘being in the red’.

Below is a screenshot of using working on the piece so you can see how we have used grids and how our work is within the grid:

I think if I develop my knowledge of grids I would be able to make this piece a lot better, however currently I am still trying to get my head around grid work, so after this weeks lesson I intend to use the same text and information to generate a new layout that meets the brief and breaks the grid
